Simple (but profound) conversations

This was a conversation Caed and I had yesterday as we were driving:

Caed - Do all people get sick?

Mommy - yes....everyone gets sick. It's not just kids or old people, but everybody in the whole world.

Caed - So, if someone hurts his feet, will he have to go to the hospital?

Mommy - yes

Caed - If a building falls on someone's legs, will he go to the hospital?

Mommy - yes

Caed - If someone was at Joyland, and the screw wasn't screwed very tight and he hurt his arms?

Mommy - yes

Caed - But it's really God who heals them, right.

Mommy - Yes! God uses the drs. and hospitals and medicines, but it really is HIM who makes people all better.

Caed - So......is it really God who changes my dressing?

I held it in, and didn't laugh out loud, but the innocent comment sure put a smile on my face. And, as the conversation quickly changed like a 5 yr. old's attention span, I continued to think about that comment the rest of the night. Yes, even for those "dreaded weekly dressing changes" HE IS HERE!! He's not sitting beside Caed on the couch or bed holding his hand like I am. HE is the One holding Caed in His lap with his big, loving, tender arms wrapped around him whispering in his ear, "It's ok...I'm right here...Daddy's got you!"

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in the sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.
(Romans 8:15-17)

Oh, the innocence of a child. I love it! How awesome that Caed "gets it". God is doing such mighty things, Lori, in the midst of this HUGE giant. He is so incredibly awesome! He is taking care of you all in such loving ways.
Sending my love and prayers for all of you.
In His love,
Carolyn O'Cain

Sometimes it takes a child's words and thoughts to make us slow down and see the big picture.
How awesome that Caed sees that.
Sending prayers and love to you guys.

isn't it marvelous how God wants to make Himself known even to our children. I believe God has something special in mind for Caed - one of these days, you will look back and see how God will use these days and Caed for His glory.

And, how wonderful that God is using this whole experience right now to touch so many people and to help so many of us see God's love through the trials that we face.

As always, thanks for letting us share in this journey.

This is one of those things that makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
Laugh because it's so obvious that it's been there all along.
Cry because I was stupid enough to not see it until now.

Awesome - God spoke to you through Caed - therefore to all of us.
Bless you. Enjoy this time with just the two of you - that relationship is hard to come by with a busy schedule and siblings.
Consider even that a blessing and take advantage of it. Enjoy your little boy! CJ

HA HA HA! I love that little boy!! He's getting smart too! Praise the LORD that he can already notice Gods sovereign hand in our lives. He's figured out at 5 years old what takes adults years to get (if they ever do!). Our God is an awesome God!
