Tues. 4/8 - update

Rejoice in the Lord always! Again, I say rejoice!...Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4: 4, 6-7)

I feel like a broken record, but today was very similar to yesterday. We had a very good morning! Todd had to leave to fly home for a few days, and after he left, Caed and I went for a good long walk. He again was laughing, teasing, just being his normal self. We walked to the sky bridge playing games the whole way. He decided he needed his tennis shoes, so we headed ALL the way back. (he didn't mind a bit) When we got in the room, he got distracted by a toy car and wanted to sit down on the floor and play awhile. Then...he saw the sink, and decided he needed to play in the water again. By the time we headed out for our walk, his tummy started hurting a little so he wanted back in bed. Finally, it was nap time, so we closed the curtains, and turned out the lights, and we both feel asleep. He slept about 2 hrs., and when we woke up, the trouble began. He cried and cried with a tummy ache. (we're guessing it's still the 'contrast' trying to make it's way through...and causing cramps along the way) Later this evening, Aunt Megan brought Reagan, Xan, and Caleb to come play. Caed is officially "free and unhooked" from 6-9 each night. So, we thought bringing some playmates might be fun. However, he just wasn't feeling up to it tonight.

Drs. report: Caed does have a staff infection, although not certain exactly what kind. They took more cultures today. The other big news is that his feeding tube is clogged AGAIN! Since they fixed the last one, they have been inserting Sprite (carbonation) into the tube twice daily to help keep the line clear. Apparently that didn't work. Tonight when the nurse was trying to put it in, it wouldn't budge. Dr. Higgins (GI) called and told me sometimes when these tubes get messed up, they just continue to have problems. So, he gave several options, but feels the best thing to do is reinsert a whole new tube. SO....we will be heading down to endoscopy for the 4th time in the morning. They will have to put him totally under for this. Todd and I struggle with how many times he has been under anesthesia!! But, there's not much you can do. I hate the fact of him being wheeled BACK down there. It just seems like it's one thing after another! But, like my dad and I were talking this evening, when you compare the positive moments to the bad ones this past week...the positives definitely outweigh the negative ones. However, when you've had such good days, the bad ones just seem to stand out more. Please pray for Caed in the morning. He will most certainly experience GREAT anxiety! Pray for Todd as he is in Celina now. He is really struggling being so far away with the new development. Pray for me to REST in the Lord! My heart aches so much right now. But like the verse says, "Rejoice in the Lord ALWAYS!!" We are to thank God and rejoice for everything going on. He has all of this worked out, and we KNOW that Caed is (and will be in the future) being used mightily for His glory. Thank you God that you chose my precious little one to be Your vessel!!!!! Teach us through these times and refine our hearts that we may bring honor to Your Name!!!

Lori and Todd,
Our hearts are heavy in the wee hours of the morning to read your message that Caed is facing another procedure today. We are praying for God to bring Caed through once again, that he will not be fearful this morning as they take him in. Praying for strength, peace and stamina for you, dear Lori. We pray for safe travel for you, Todd and peace that Caed is in God's steady and faithful hand.

Todd, your testimony as you lead our youth in Celina has been so powerful and God is clearly at work in all of this. God is changing lives in these young people as they pray for Caed and hear your testimony through all of this.

"Merciful and faithful Lord, because of Your great love I am not consumed, for Your compassions
never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. I say, the Lord is my portion; therefore, I will wait for him. Lord, you are good to those whose hope is in You, to the one who seeks You."
Lamentations 3:22-25

All our love and prayers,
Pam, Toby, Ryan and Connor

Todd and Lori,
My heart aches and soars at the same time when I read your blog. I see the pain and struggle...and can't imagine. But I also see such a testimony to the LORD in your words and your faithfulness. Lori you are truly glorifying God in this. His power is so great. He can lift us up in the most difficult times...when the world would be sad, worried and angry, He can give us strength, joy and peace. God is so good and you are a witness to that every day. We're praying for today's procedure to be anxiety and trouble free. We'll try to take care of Todd while he's here too!

Dearest Todd and Lori:

It is 8:18 am. As I was driving home from the DFW airport at 6:00am from an LAX all-nighter, I thought about Caed and how I missed my time at 2:00 am to pray. I'm accountable to Addie who comes on at 3:00 am, as you know.

Wanted you to know Pam and I just prayed together over the phone. God woke her up in my stead without her knowing I wasn't home. And I see Amy Oldham stood in for Addie.

We so want Caed to feel God's presence and know he is able to overcome even at 4 years old. As Pam and I were praying, God reminded me of Eph. 6:10 "Putting on the full armor of God and the mind of Christ to withstand the fiery darts of the enemy through God's word."

Caed is a mighty warrior. Hillary and Matt learned that song in second grade. We taught it to Addie. So when Caed get's home, or maybe we could video it for him, Addie could teach it to him. It is powerful.

I must go now to meet Pam at BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). We will be interceding for all the procedures today and have already come against the staff infection.

Lord, just be Caed's physician today. Let the doctor's hands be your hands. Touch him with your peace and love. In Jesus name, Amen.
