Sat. 4/12 - update

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am STRONG!!
(2 Corinthians 12:10)

This morning started out pretty rough. I was on my way to the hospital when Todd called me and said the feeding tube came out!! Caed was throwing up and he started gagging. Todd looked in his mouth and saw the end of the tube coming up. This is something the drs. had warned us about all along. They said to not be alarmed; it happens quite often. But...we had JUST gotten this new tube put in a few days ago. I began asking God "Why?" again. We had felt so good about our meeting with the drs. yesterday, and this was NOT part of the plan! The Lord quickly told me maybe it was. Instead of reinserting a new tube for just a few days, they decided to just keep it out for the weekend. One of the options we talked about yesterday was putting in a different type of feeding tube. This one is like a port that goes directly into the sm. intestine (or stomach - not sure which they said we would try). This is much better, and of course easier on Caed. (no tubes going through the nose) So...since they would have to do surgery on him to insert the new tube, they said they might as well go on in and "explore." We hated to hear this; however, maybe this will be our answer. Hopefully, she will find the problem when they open him up. The surgery is scheduled for Mon. (probably morning) The remainder of the day was pretty typical...a little sleep and a lot of throwing up. Something else we discovered this evening: he is now throwing up straight bile again. Not sure if the removal of the feeding tube has anything to do with it. Just seemed like odd timing for him to start doing that again. Anyway, hopefully we will get some answers soon. After he threw up the last time, we immediately saw "relief" on his face for the 1st time all day, and he began wanting to play. He wasn't hooked up to anything at the time (since the nose tube is now gone), so he got out of bed. He walked over to Grammy and said, "It sure is good to be free!" ha! Poor thing. We pray he will be totally FREE very very soon!

Here are a few pictures from our only "good moment"
all day:

That nurse looks like he is going to get it in the head!!! I wish we could see the end, even if just for a moment. Then again, if we knew how it ended we wouldn't really NEED to depend on God. We are continuing to pray as usual. God must be getting sick of hearing about it!!!

Forty days - forty years in the wilderness - it rained forty days and forty nights - but remember, not a lot happened on day 41 in the ark or on day 1 of the 41st year - they still had to wait "to finish the story."

Father, how long 40 days is to an adult is one thing; to a 4 year-old little boy it seems like a lifetime. Father, please, please, help this new situation with the feeding tube and exploratory surgery tomorrow be the step toward total understanding of Caed's condition for the Drs.

I pray for strength, patience, and peace for Caed - and his mom and dad. Thank You for being with them every step of the way over these last 40 something days. Continue to guide the Drs. in the proper treatment plan.

In Your Son's Name,
Amen

Hey, Little Buddy. I'm going to print out your picture and take it to the Sunday School class I teach. I've told them about you, but I'm going to show them your picture, Caed. I teach 4 and 5 year-olds, so if you ever visit Albuquerque and come to my church, you could come to my class.

Anyway, I hope you have a great Sunday, Buddy! And, I hope you find more nurses to sneak up on - ooohhh - maybe a Dr. or two, too!

Your friend in Albuquerque,
Debbie
