Thurs. 6/5 - update

The Tortoise and The Hare

There once was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the tortoise, challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.
Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"
Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."
Slow and Steady walked and walked. He never, ever stopped until he came to the finish line.
The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise, they woke up Hare.
Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise was over the line.
After that, Hare always reminded himself, "Don't brag about your lightning pace, for Slow and Steady won the race!"

Ok...I know you're probably wondering why I posted one of Aesop's fables on tonight's post. It isn't anything "spiritual," but for some reason the Lord has brought this to my mind a lot the last 2 days. "Slow and Steady wins the race!!!" We are so accustomed in our world today to having anything we want at "lightning pace." From food, cars, clothes, appliances, even a date...you name it! In a matter of hours and a click of a few buttons, it's ours...immediately. You need to talk to someone RIGHT AWAY?....don't worry about calling, how about just texting them? I'm not suggesting all these things are bad, but what they have done to our generation is. We do not know what it means to truly have to wait for anything. Having patience and perseverance are dying qualities.

Throughout Caed's ordeal, TIME has been a major factor. We have heard the drs. say it over again. But, how much time? ha! See, even there....we can't stand the fact of having to wait! We have the attitude, "ok, God, we'll wait, but just tell us HOW LONG?" I told Todd the other night at dinner, "I think it'll be a year!" What if I'm wrong? What if a year goes by, and we're still where we are today? It kinda reminds me of Jesus' 2nd coming. We don't know when...we're not told. But He does tell us to "Be ready!" I don't want the days, months, possible years to cause us to lose hope. I want to BE READY when the day comes that he is healed!

Now, back to the fable. Slow and Steady isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just hard living it. We want to SEE! However, when you are moving at turtle speed, you generally cannot. We have an on-going book that my cousin Marnie is putting together for us of all the postings from the blog. I want a tangible copy that I can sit down and read (and someday Lord willing Caed can too). I have not made it through the entire thing yet. (although something I want to do) But, just the few that I have read from one month out...and then two...WOW!! HE IS MAKING PROGRESS!! I am so thankful the Lord has given us this record so that we CAN SEE (at least where we've been)! We may not know where the Finish Line is or when we'll reach it....but we do have His Promise. Help us God to stay the course and finish well.

Persevere - to continue without halting (even if you're moving as slow as a swamp turtle!)

"...let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus (the Finish Line!!)..." Hebrews 12:1, 2

*BTW...Caed has had a terrific day!!!! We'll start G-tube feedings tonight ~ Please pray!!!!!!!!

Amazing!!! You have given me such insight on how to deal with something so severe in your life (and Caed's) and to do it with such grace. God was preparing me for my own fight I think....Praise the Lord for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us and the days we have in our life with wonderful friends and family to support us, be it mentally, physically, or spiritually.

I LOVED THE STORY OF THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE. WE ALL NEED TO BE REMINDED OF PERSEVERING. LORD, EVEN IF IT TAKES THE SPRING, THE HOT SUMMER AND INTO OUR BEAUTIFUL FALL...PLEASE HEAL THIS LITTLE MAN. WE ALL KNOW THAT HE IS GOING TO BE SOMEONE REALLY SPECIAL FROM THIS SITUATION YOU HAVE ALLOWED HIM TO BE IN. NOW, WE JUST COME BEFORE YOU AND ASK YOU TO HEAL HIM SO THIS FAMILY CAN GO HOME AND RESUME THE LIFE THEY HAD PRIOR TO THIS SETBACK.EVEN YOU KNOW LORD, THAT THINGS LIKE THIS CAN TAKE IT'S TOLL ON ANY FAMILY.YOU PICKED A WONDERFUL FAMILY TO USE FOR YOUR GLORY. THIS HAS TOUCHED SO MANY LIVES THANK YOU LORD.AMEN...SHARON WYLIE

What a wonderful confirmation of His love for you that our Father brings this story to your mind. Every slow step was one step closer to the finish line.

Thanks for sharing your journey.
