Good news 11/4 - update

Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. (Psalm 105:1-2)

We had a great clinic visit this morning! Thank you God!!! Caed gained weight again (he's at 38.2 lbs), and his labs looked perfect. This week we are cutting the IV fluids completely!! Then, we will draw blood Thurs. and Mon. IF things continue to look good from that stand point, they will TAKE OUT HIS CENTRAL LINE ON TUES!!!!!!! Praise God! I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen before Thanksgiving like they originally said. Of course, I don't want to jump too soon. We will have to see how his body responds to the IV fluids being gone this week. Please pray for this specifically. His feedings are now at 100 cc. continuous. AND.......his stools have gone down (5-6/day) and they are thicker!! Everything was positive today. So, we are looking at only 10-14 more days here in Omaha.

Another praise is that Reagan is still here with us!! We gave her the choice of staying or going back today with her Daddy. It was hard for her. I told her to just "sleep on it" and let us know. She misses family and friends (and quite honestly I'm sure a 'normal home'), but she also knew how lonely Caed would be if she left. I've got all her schoolwork here, so she can continue with that and not get behind. I am SO thankful she didn't leave after all. Not only for my own heart, but especially Caed's. It has made a big difference for him with her here.

Todd will fly back up in a couple of weeks to help us get home, so saying goodbye to him tonight wasn't too hard (knowing it won't be very long until he's back). I heard the kids saying the same thing. Although quite honestly.....I am getting really tired of airports!!!!!

We also had an interesting day meeting a new friend. (providence of God maybe???) We received a comment on our last blog post from someone who was also here in Omaha (hospital) AND from Texas. They are here at UNMC and have been here the last month. Oh, how I wish we would have known before now! They are SUCH a wonderful family!! Please read her blog. I know you will fall in love with them just as we have. Their 2 yr. old daughter is named Ashley. She has had a sm. bowel, liver, and pancreas transplant. She has had such a difficult time, but this family has and continues to remain strong through their faith in Christ. Ashley and her Mommy are here by themselves, while her husband and two other children are back in Tx. I can relate to her pain in this area. It is so difficult being separated like that. Please just add Ashley and her sweet family to your prayers. Just as God has been faithful in answering our prayers for Caed's healing, I know He can do the same for little Ashley!!! Nothing is too difficult for Him!

Lori,

Thank you for your visit. It did Ashley's heart good to see Reagan and Caed. I could see it in her eyes as she watched them. I'm so happy to hear the good news of Caed's clinic appointment. Home in time for the holidays! I can't thank you enough for your kindness toward us today. A friendly face is such a blessing. Ashley is enjoying her new toys. Thank you again. May God bless you. Sincerely, Trish and Ashley Kate

Wonderful news about Caed's clinic reports! God is working his miracles! So glad that Reagan decided to stay and help you and Caed get through these next few weeks, although we miss her here....and, of course, can't wait to see you and Caed! Happy that you met some more new friends...will keep Ashley in my prayers also. Missing you bunches....Love you...MeMe (P.S....Richard won by a land slide tonight...so a job for 4 more years!)

I'm so excited to hear that Reagan is going to stay with you and Caed! I know that will be good for all of you! I'm also so happy to hear of a good clinic report! How awesome that you will have one less pump to deal with this week and hopefully one less tube after next Tuesday! I'll be praying that the labs look good!

I spent a long time tonight reading Ashley's blog. Thank's for providing the link. We will pray for them as well. What a hard road it looks like they have been down.

There are a lot of resources out there on Irritable bowel. It would take ages to study it all. What we've done is brought it all together, so that it's all available here, in this one place.
