Good news 11/4 - update

Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts. (Psalm 105:1-2)

We had a great clinic visit this morning! Thank you God!!! Caed gained weight again (he's at 38.2 lbs), and his labs looked perfect. This week we are cutting the IV fluids completely!! Then, we will draw blood Thurs. and Mon. IF things continue to look good from that stand point, they will TAKE OUT HIS CENTRAL LINE ON TUES!!!!!!! Praise God! I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen before Thanksgiving like they originally said. Of course, I don't want to jump too soon. We will have to see how his body responds to the IV fluids being gone this week. Please pray for this specifically. His feedings are now at 100 cc. continuous. AND.......his stools have gone down (5-6/day) and they are thicker!! Everything was positive today. So, we are looking at only 10-14 more days here in Omaha.

Another praise is that Reagan is still here with us!! We gave her the choice of staying or going back today with her Daddy. It was hard for her. I told her to just "sleep on it" and let us know. She misses family and friends (and quite honestly I'm sure a 'normal home'), but she also knew how lonely Caed would be if she left. I've got all her schoolwork here, so she can continue with that and not get behind. I am SO thankful she didn't leave after all. Not only for my own heart, but especially Caed's. It has made a big difference for him with her here.

Todd will fly back up in a couple of weeks to help us get home, so saying goodbye to him tonight wasn't too hard (knowing it won't be very long until he's back). I heard the kids saying the same thing. Although quite honestly.....I am getting really tired of airports!!!!!

We also had an interesting day meeting a new friend. (providence of God maybe???) We received a comment on our last blog post from someone who was also here in Omaha (hospital) AND from Texas. They are here at UNMC and have been here the last month. Oh, how I wish we would have known before now! They are SUCH a wonderful family!! Please read her blog. I know you will fall in love with them just as we have. Their 2 yr. old daughter is named Ashley. She has had a sm. bowel, liver, and pancreas transplant. She has had such a difficult time, but this family has and continues to remain strong through their faith in Christ. Ashley and her Mommy are here by themselves, while her husband and two other children are back in Tx. I can relate to her pain in this area. It is so difficult being separated like that. Please just add Ashley and her sweet family to your prayers. Just as God has been faithful in answering our prayers for Caed's healing, I know He can do the same for little Ashley!!! Nothing is too difficult for Him!

Sat. 11/1 - update

Wow! What can we say?........what a game!!!

GO TEXAS TECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to Cordell and Carol's house to watch it. It was so nice to be able to scream and yell without upsetting our close-quarter neighbors here at the Lied! ha!

(thanks Steph for sending this autographed poster. He loves this horse!)

**thank you also for the packages and cards several of you have sent. The kids get so excited when we go pick up our mail and they hand us a box! They have really enjoyed the books, games, etc..... Thank you again for thinking of us and especially for your continued prayers and support for our family!

Today was a difficult day for Todd (particularly) because it is the one year anniversary of his dad's passing. Bob had a heart transplant in '95 and lived 12 more wonderful years. Regardless of how much pain he was in, he always had a smile on his face and encouraged everyone he was around with his wit, humor, and positive outlook. By the way...he would have LOVED tonight's game!!!! We have wondered why the Lord took him home just 4 short months before all this happened to Caed. However, he (more than anyone else) could REALLY empathize with Caed and ALL he had to go through. Sometimes I think the Lord spared him from having to relive so much of this and particularly having to watch his grandson suffer. Even though we all miss him terribly.....we have a peace knowing he is with Jesus today (completely PAIN FREE!) We also have the hope that we will see him again!!!!!! Please just keep Todd, his 2 brothers, and Katie (his mom) in your prayers. Anniversaries like today always bring back lots of memories and emotions.

Fri. 10/31 - update

Mr. Incredible..............Caed, you have no idea how fitting this costume was for you this year! You are such an INCREDIBLE little boy!! You have gone through more in the last 8 months than most of us will go through in a lifetime, and yet you are SO strong and SO brave. That smile and magnetic personality have kept us going more days than you'll ever know. You have made an impact on the world!!!! YOU are our super hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love you!

Tinker Bell....................Reagan, your innocence, beauty
and grace shone through tonight. You truly were
sparkling!!!! You as well, have gone through a lot this year.
Thank you for being strong and flexible and being
such a big help to all of us. In so many ways, you have
had to step back and allow Mommy and Daddy's time
and energy to be placed on Caed. You are truly beautiful
inside as well as outside. We love you!

Just missing our little Caleb...............

This morning, the hospital had trick or treating
for all the Pedi patients. At least a hundred or more
employees lined up on 3 different floors to pass out
toys and treats.

Lauren (a nursing student) was our guide.
They filled their bags!!!!

Fall Festival

We went to the Fall Festival at Life Spring Church in Bellevue. It was awesome!!! Such neat prizes. The kids had so much fun!!!!

Fall Pics 1

Minutes before, I was telling Todd
how Reagan always wins the cake walk.
Sure enough....she did again!

Caed won a 2 liter Diet 7up (perfect!)

This was the best game. So funny!
The man raised and lowered the donut
and Caed had to take a bite without
using his hands. It was especially
funny since Caed cannot eat donuts!!! ha!

She got it!!!

Reagan won the camo hat and gave it to Caed.
Minutes later, he won this puppy and gave it to
her!!! Then.....Caed won a giant teddy bear on
a tic-tac-toe game. He nailed it!!!

SUPER MAN!!!! Caleb, this little suit once belonged to your big brother. You may not know each other very well right now, but we pray one day the two of you will have a very special bond. You were sent to us by God and at a time we once questioned. Now, we see more than ever what a tremendous blessing YOU are!!! We love you! Thank you God for always knowing best!

(thank you Mother & Daddy for sending this to us! The only thing that would have made this night any better would be to have him here too!!! Thank you for continuing to watch over him.)

Caed and his bud Joseph (or Jofus...as he calls him)

Reagan and her new friend Katherine

Can you say "a confused Lone Ranger?"

It's exhausting being a super hero
